BQ35100EVM-795: "The detected device is not compatible with this application": Troubles with using BQ35100EM-795 Eval Board and 3.6 Li-SOCl2 battery

Part Number: BQ35100EVM-795
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, EV2400

Dear all,

I bought the BQ35100EVM-795 EvalBoard but I have had some troubles during its use.

As a matter of fact, once I have prepared the setup as shown on the User Guide SLUUBH7 and connected all to my PC throught EV2400 adapter, I opened "bqStudio" and selected "0100_1_02-bq35100.bqz" file.

However, the application tells that "the detected device is not compatible with this application".

After having pressed the OK button, it shows the main screen but it is clear that the connection is lost.

I am using is a Li-SOCl2 one with a 3.6V open circuit voltage.

I can not figure out how to fix the issue.

Could anyone give me some suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,

Vladimir Zitoli

  • Hello Vladimir,

BQStudio should auto-detect the device if it is hooked up properly. Make sure the EV2400 port is connected to I2C and not one of the other ports. Also make sure that the jumpers are configured for a 1s application. If the connections are all proper it is most likely the gauge is not awake and you will need to measure some of the different pin voltages to determine what state it is in, like GE, BAT, VIN, etc.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
