Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5163,
Hi all,
We are designing a battery powered board which will have non-isolated communication as default, and isolated communcation optinal. Since we have limited area on the board, It is important to use ICs which have same footprint for isolated and non-isolated converter. The specs are as below;
Batt Voltage Range: 10V to 65V
Isolated/Non-Isolated Output Voltage: 5V
Isolated/Non-Isolated Output Current: 40mA Nominal, 180mA Max.
For non-isolated power, we are planning to use LM5163 which has a better efficiency curve than LM5168P, and for isolated converter we will use LM5168F which together with side components have same footprints (except transformer) as LM5163. By combination of these two, we can provide optional isolated/non-isolated communication by populating/not populating different components on a small area.
My first question is, is there any other solution suited my case which is better in terms of efficiency and cost than our solution?
Second, is there any calculater to calculate transformer and other side components value for LM5168F? "SNVR520" only works for non-isolated converter, and "WEBENCH® Designer" doesn't let me select isolated output for lm5168.
Looking forward to hear soon, thanks in advance.
