BQ25620EVM: AUTO CUT-OFF of BQ25620EVM

Part Number: BQ25620EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25620

I have interfaced Solar panel(20W) to the BQ25620EVM for my application but it tends to auto cut-off on input voltage at 18.4v but the maximum spike is given in the data sheet is 26v. please help me out on this.

  • Hello,

Thank you for reaching out via E2E. While 26V is the absolute maximum input voltage the device can handle without damage, the BQ25620 datasheet states the operational maximum input voltage is 18V. This is stated on page 1 [3.9V to 18V wide input operating voltage] and in the electrical characteristics table.

You are observing the device auto cut-off at approx. 18.4V because overvoltage threshold VBUS_OVP is default set to 18.5V. This specification is located on page 9 of the datasheet.

    Best Regards,

    Garrett
