Need help with programing the bq27510-G1

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27510-G1, BQ27510

Hello

I'm attempting to program a bq27510-G1 with new data.

We've created a golden file, and used flashstream.exe to create .dffs and .bqfs files (using bq27510_v1_12.senc).

Programming the device seems to go smoothly, but at the end, after giving commands to exit ROM mode, the device remains in ROM mode.

If battery power to the device is removed and restarted, the device is "dead" - it won't communicate at either the normal (0x55) or the ROM mode (0x16) addresses.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

jim

  • The typical explanation for bricking a gauge is that the wrong dataflash version was loaded that doesn't match the firmware version on the IC.

Were you updating with DFFS or BQFS?

Was your golden file created on a bq27510-G1 IC using -G1 FW and EVSW?

Your bq27510 EVM probably shipped with bq27510 FW (v1.11, not -G1/v1.12) so did you update it before creating the golden file?

  • HI

I've tried to update with both DFFS an d BQFS.

The golden file was created with the default on the EVM. The file's name has "_0510_0111" in it, so I assume it's version 1.11?

I didn't have a G1 .senc file, and I found one on the TI website that is V1.12. Looks like that's the problem - a 1.11 vs 1.12 mismatch.

So my next question is where can I find a 1.11 .senc file?

    Thanks!

  • Hello Jim,

You can find the v1.11 .senc file in the bq27510 product folder on ti.com (please refer to the link below).  It should be the last download in the table.  Hope this helps.
