BQ2014H: 30V NiMH battery gauge required

Part Number: BQ2014H
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z100, , BQ2060A

We require a simple 30V (20 cell) NiMH battery gauge to display the current state of charge, using 4 or 5 LEDs

I have looked at the BQ34Z100 but its seems over complicated for our needs, is the bq2014H a more suitable alternative or are there others?

Does the gauge have to remain connected to the battery at all times or can gauge remain in the equipment and monitor whatever battery is inserted?

I have just looked at the bq2060A is this a candidate?
