TPS25983: the max current limit capability

Hi,

I refer to DS and saw the max current limit spec is 17.5xA typical but in calculate tool, the max could be 21.6A.

This is 18A continue current supportive deice, the current limit should not be only 17.5xA, right?

What's the max current limit spec of the device?

    Hi Jim,

    The recommended maximum continuous current is 18A only. In the design calculator, Imax refers to your maximum continuous load current and Ilimit is the value which you should set for the Imax value. Keeping 20% buffer prevents unexpected behavior. 

    In the DS, 17.5A is the current limit when using 84Ohms as Rlim. It doesn't mean max current limit spec. To see max current spec, please refer to section 7.1 (Absolute limits) and 7.3 (recommended limits).
