TPS3700-Q1: Design & Simulation

Part Number: TPS3700-Q1

Hello Team,

We are using comparator TPS3700-Q1 from TI in our automotive design.

Our application includes a switching logic in which whenever the main 12V(12VRising) falls below 9V the comparator should turn on the BOOST_EN signal and turn off the BUCK_EN signal.

And whenever the main 12V goes above 10V, comparator should turn off the BOOST_EN signal and turn ON the BUCK_EN signal.

When the main supply is between 9 to 10V, both BUCK_EN & BOOST_EN signals should be enabled.

Issue:

While performing the simulation, during rising and falling period of 12Rising the BOOST_EN signal is dropping to 0V for some period as marked in the simulation graph below.

Could you please explain why this drop happening. For our application we need the BOOST_EN signal to be high until the 12V reaches 10V.

Is this drop happening because of any fault in the simulation model? Or is it the exact behaviour of the Comparator IC?

Kindly Confirm.

When we defined the 12Rising as below we got the simulation as in the below graph.

Here also we can see a small drop at the beginning, this drop will also affect the working of our design.

Kindly explain why this drop is happening and how can we avoid this condition.

Awaiting a quick response!

Thanks & Regards

Sandra
