BQ25792: Parallel Charging of battery using BQ25792

Hello Ti,
I am using Bq25792 for charging one 3.7V battery. Can I use same IC for charging 2 or more Parallel battery (3.7V each).
Or Do I need to keep any circuit/IC to distribute charge equally.

Hi Abhineet,

Battery packs in parallel self balance so you can use one charger to charge them all, as long as the charge current is high enough to charge the combined capacity within the charger's safety timers.

Hello Jeff
I am using BQ25792 (Configured Program Register with 3.0K) and trying to charge 3.7V/5000mAH battery. The charging current does not go above 1.24A (As metioned in dataseet it goes upto 2A).
How to configure it for fast charging.

Hi Abhineet,

What is the charger's input current limit? The ILIM_HIZ resistor divider clamps the input current limit register (IINDPM).

I have two question:

1) In BQ25792 at VBUS what is the purpose of acfet and rbfet, can you seggest any component for them.
2) Also can I use only one from acfet and rbfet . if yes which one.

Hi Abhineet,

The 2 back to back FETs are required if your application requires two different input power sources that you want the ACDRVx MUX output pins to be able to switch between. If you only have one input source, there is no need for the FETS, ACDRVx pins can be grounded and VACx pins can be tied to VBUS.

If you want to use the FETs, the EVM uses CSD17581Q3A.

Hi Abhineet,

We both be connected to the charger at the same time and therefore need the charge MUX FETs to choose either 5V or 12V? If so, then both FETs are needed for each ACDRVx pin. If not, then you do not need the FETs.
