LM5170-Q1: I can't do 4-Phase Buck convert mode.

You mentioned you are following another forum. Are you referencing to another e2e thread?
It would be helpful to see the history of this to better understand the context.

According to the picture, you are using two LM5170 EVMs in parallel to supply 2kW output power, correct?

The EVM might not be fit for this application, as the descriptions says the maximum current going in or coming out from the 12V side is 60A, which would be a maximum power of 720W.

You said, maximum power is 720W, I cant understand about it.

Because, I understand LM5170EVM's each channels maximum power is at least 500W..

Regarding the maximum power, I took the following information from the EVM users guide:

This is where my calculation of 12V * 60A = 720W comes from.
From where did you get the information that each channel is capable of 500W?

I got that information is 3. Description of LM5170-Q1's Data Sheet.

That looks like under the picture.

And then, Before I tried 1kW Output Power Test by 1 EVM, Use Dual Chanel.

If I want to know 2 kW Output power is, Using 3 EVM (At least 5-phase) Right?

I think I found the source of our misunderstanding.
I agree that the LM5170 device itself is capable of driving such FETs to achieve 500W per channel, just like the datasheet says.
However, the LM5170 EVM is a finished board design that is not built to make use of the full potential of the IC.
Because of this, the maximum current limits of this EVM board are smaller due to external component limitations.

If a 2kW output is required, it would be necessary to make a complete new design with 2x LM5170, where each of the for phases can support 500W,
or as you proposed, use more of the predesigned EVMs in parallel.

How could I successfully check 1kW Power..?

I wonder what your opinion is as I think the experiment can prove the 2kW output.

If I understand correctly, the initial thread stated the two EVMs will shut down at 1.3kW power output.
Were you able to run one EVM at 1kW, or are you asking for the modifications necessary to achieve this output power?

I want to run two EMVs at 2kW power output. So I want to know how can I solve that or what is wrong in there.

Becuase, I already check 1kW power output by one EVM.

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the clarification.
The EVM specs mention power limits of 700W (12V/60A ). Operating one EVM with 1kW therefore would already out of spec of what the EVM is designed for.

For your design of 2kW, it is either required to use a third EVM, or rebuild two board to support higher power ratings.

3 EVMs can support 180A output current.

We don't have the guide for 3 EVMs in parallel.
