BQ79616-Q1: Can LDOIN be powered by external buck?

Part Number: BQ79616-Q1

Hi expert,

Can LDOIN be powered by external buck?

LDOIN has 6V and 8V input voltage in NPN mode? Can I set external buck to always output 8V?

What about PSRR of internal LDO, can it stand the input ripple from buck?

Thanks!

  • Hi Jass,

To use an external power source, Figure 10-4 is recommended so that the internal circuitry can set LDOIN via NPNB and BAT. Batteries are very noisy so a buck converter being fed to Rnpn and the 30ohm resistor is not a problem as long as Rnpn is properly sized for the expected amount of current drawn by LDOIN.

    Regards,
