TPS62933EVM: What else to do to operate EVM at 2MHz?

Part Number: TPS62933EVM

Hi team,

My customer is trying to operate this EVM at 2MHz. They have made the following changes- R7 = 10k, JP1 installed, R4= 31.6k.

The EVM is still operating at 500kHz. What else do they need to do to have it operate at 2MHz?

Thanks,
Lauren

  • Hi Lauren,

What's your test condition? Input voltage, load current?

I made the same change on our EVM and found the frequency is ~600k under 12Vin 0.6A loading. However, if you increase the loading you can find the frequency becomes normal.

That's because the 6.8uH inductor on the EVM is too large which cause lower on-time slope of the inductor current, and the on-time is longer than expected and the internal error amp is saturated. To ensure the output voltage regulation, the device must decrease its frequency.

You can get near 2MHz frequency after you change the inductor into 1uH.
