TPS785-Q1: Adjustable option R1 and R2 values

Part Number: TPS785-Q1

I see in the datasheet:

choose R2 to be equal to or smaller than 550 kΩ so that the current flowing through R1 and R2 is at least 100 times larger than the IFB current listed in the Electrical Characteristics table

Is it ok to pick a R2 value of closer to 5k ohms or 10k ohms? Or does it have to be around the 500k ohm mark?

Avtar

  • Hello Avtar,

I will be working to review this thread soon.

    Thank you for your patience.

  • Hello Avtar,

Picking a value closer to 5k ohm or 10k ohms would be good.

The accuracy of the system could be affected by an R2 value larger than 550k. This is because the lower value resistor for R2 is used to increase the current through the resistor divider. By increasing the current through the divider, minimal error occurs from the FB pin current. Another reason for a smaller divider resistor value is to load the Vout, which prevents the output from drifting upwards.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

    Thank you,

    Hannah
