TLC5940: Can I use TLC5940 to drive this LED S22LGRYN ( 10 V dc to 30 V dc operating range , common anode LED and max response time = 1ms ) ?

Dear TI expert,

I am evaluating LED driver for S22LGRYN manufactured by Banner engineering.

Here is S22LGRYN product description

1. It is tricolor common anode LED ( Green, Red, Yellow ) and each color consumes up to 25 mA

-> TLC5940 can provide up to 120 mA each channel as constant current sink which is connected to LED cathode

2. 10 V dc to 30 V dc operating range

-> TLC5940 LED Power Supply Voltage up to 17 V

3. max response time = 1ms

-> I'm not sure TLC5940 can control S22LGRYN brightness by PWM dimming

Please suggest.

Hi Naiwen,

I would like to ask what is the device input voltage VCC, is it also from 10V dc to 30V dc operation range? It's because the range of supply voltage for TLC5940 is only 3~5.5V.

Hi Jared Zhou,

Supply voltage for LED driver TLC5940 and MCU MSP430F6779 is 3.3V.

And I have another supply voltage 12V for LED driving.

Hi Naiwen,

Would you mind tell me your email address that we can talk about this topic via email? If possible, could you please tell me some more detail information about your application, like how many LEDs you need to control, how to connect the LED and the end equipment? Then I can judge if TLC5940 is the best option or I can choose another one for you.
