TPSM846C23: RSET Values Selection (Possible data sheet error)

Hello,

This is regarding the TPSM846C23 DC DC CONVERTER (0.35-2V). On page 22 of the datasheet, it provides a table with various RSET / VOUT pairs. However, the options for 0.9V does not agree with the formula.

Shouldn't a value of RSET=12.5 k OHM provide a VOUT of 0.9 VDC?

Yes, the mathematical value for VOUT = 0.9V is 12.5, but, as the chart title states, the values provided are the nearest standard resistor value for common output voltages. The Ideal value of 12.5kΩ has been rounded to the nearest standard E96 resistor value of 12.4kΩ.

The resulting nominal output voltage will be 0.903V.

You will find similar "rounding to the nearest standard resistor value" in other lines of the chart as well. For example, the ideal value for an output voltage of 0.7V is 25kΩ, but the value listed is 24.9kΩ, the nearest standard E96 value to 25kΩ
