LM2660: positive input negative output LDO power solution recommendation

Hi Team,

Could you possible help to check if we have solution which could support +12V input, and ±5V output power solution? Customer want to find an LDO solution to provide power ±5V power supply for LM2904B-Q1, 100mA load current is enough for LDO. Customer could use one dual channel LDO or two LDO devices. Thanks a lot for your help to recommendation.

I noticed there has a solution based on LM2660, could you possible help to recommend a automotive grade device, which could support positive input and with negative output, thanks a lot for your help.

  • Hi Jessica,

    LM2660 is a charge pump which may generate -5V from 5V.

    You can use a buck converter for 12V to 5V.

    Thanks a lot for your feedback.

    Since the input voltage would be 12V, so seems only use LM2660 could not work for customer system. For buck converter, customer has some concern for the ripple since under normal work condition, the load current is about 10mA. I would like to reach LDO team to check if there has any other LDO solution firstly, thanks again for your help here.

    If you would like an automotive grade device I would recommend the TPS709-Q1 and the TPS7B81-Q1 devices. We also do have both the TPS709 and TPS7B81 in industrial grade versions as well. The biggest difference between the TPS709 and the TPS7B81 is the Vin (max), the TPS709 can be used if 30V Vin (max) is sufficient and the TPS7B81 should be used if 40V is needed. Unfortunately, we currently do not have a dual device to fit these recommendations so two LDOs will need to be utilized.  Let me know if you have any additional questions.
