TPS2662: (TPS26621) reverse current issue

Hello,

In datasheet it is stated that device has reverse current protection. But nowhere is written what is value of reverse current that it will block.

Only what we found is this:

When SHDN is 0V. But in normal operation SHDN is not 0V.

With measurements, we came to value from around 110mA reverse current that it will be blocked. We consider this too high value of reverse current.

Please check if this is true.

And just to better understand setup:

1. we placed 24V from both sides of TPS26621DRCT
2. Then we remove 24V on input side
3. reverse current starts flowing back on input side
4. We have load on input side and we can lower it until we get ~110mA current
5. then TPS26621 react and cut reverse current

Conditions worth to mention is that current limit is set to 500mA via 11.8k resistor, and we also have design with 200mA current limit, both behave same independent from Rilim value.

Hi Miroslav,

We mention this threshold in datasheet.

So reverse current threshold will be 54mV/RDSON which is around 112mA.

Thanx, we also figured this out...

This is not reverse current protection that we need. For a 800mA device, 100mA reverse current protection is nothing.
