TPS25982: Bypassing the device

Hi,

I am using part TPS259822ONRGER in a design where the input voltage is nominally 15V, whereas the device I assembled has Vovlo as 3.7V

I SHOULD HAVE used a part such as TPS259827ONRGER, but only realized my mistake when testing the assembled board.

My question is:

Until I obtain the correct part, could I connect the IN and OUT pins together, effectively bypassing the device?

This is so that I can start testing the downstream design.

    Hi David,

    I cannot see any way of bypassing the OVP without bypassing the device itself. Here I have attached functional block diagram of the device, and you can observe that the OVP is implemented using a comparator from the input pin. The reference voltage of comparator is based on the device variants. You are correct, TPS259827 variant will work here. 

    So, when you say IN-OUT short, you are basically bypassing the device completely, so device doesn't matter. Just for precaution, you can short EN to GND (if possible, not necessary) when doing this. That will definitely disable the device.

    Also, I just want to remind you to check if you need circuit breaker (O) variant or current limiting variant (L).
