Hi,

Is it OK to float the LP2998MR (SO PowerPAD) Thermal Pad?

We are considering replacing from the LP2996M/NOPB. Since we have the LP2998MR(SO PowerPAD) in our company, I would like to know if we can replace it without using Thermal Pad.

    Hi Nishle,

    The datasheet indicates that the thermal pad connection is required for the DDA package, so I do not think I can advise otherwise. The device should still operate correctly without this connection, but the thermal performance could affect the long term reliability.
