LP2992: Legacy/New Chip Part Numbering

Part Number: LP2992

The December 2023 revision (K) of the LP2992 datasheet introduced a 'new' and a 'legacy' version of the device. There is a table in the datasheet which describes the difference in part numbering, but the part numbers in the table do not match any orderable part numbers. We have ordered LP2992AIM5-5.0/NOPB - what would the corresponding 'new' version part number be and is it available for ordering?

Hi Sigurd,

Legacy material will ship until supply is extinguished.

Most likely, new material will begin shipping before the end of Q2.

I dont get it. So it is not possible to tell which part you buy? They are not exactly equivalent replacement for each other - is this common when ordering part from TI? That you dont know, what you get?

Hi Sigurd,

You can confirm if the part you have ordered is legacy or new material based on the shipping label. This device may ship with the legacy chip (CSO: DLN or GF8) or the new chip (CSO: RFB) which uses the latest manufacturing flow. The reel packaging label provides CSO information to distinguish which chip is being used. Device performance for new and legacy chips is denoted throughout the datasheet.
