Hi All,
I have a question about TPS259241.
TPS259241 is an Auto retry product, will the device shut down if there is a output short circuit?
Or will it return automatically?
Best Regards,
Ishiwata

Hi Ishiwata,
Thanks for reaching out!
The device will do auto-retry for overload and short-circuit fault

Rakesh-san,
Thank you for your reply.
There was no significant short-circuit operation in the materials I received.
The graph below in the data sheet does not recover automatically.
I think it will not automatically recover if there is a short circuit, is my understanding correct?

Hi Ishiwata,
In Figure 32, the current limit is at lower value (~1A) so the device is still in current limit region and takes more time to hit thermal shutdown (TSD). Once it hits TSD, it retries in 100us.
In Figure 34, the current limit is at higher value (3.5A) and you can see auto-retry behavior.

Hi Rakesh,
Thank you for your answer.
Can you think of any behavior that would cause TPS259241 to latch off?
A customer reported that the TPS259241 stopped outputting when noise was applied.
I'm looking for a reason to stop.

Ishiwata
Hi Ishiwata,
Any condition which can cause electrical overstress (EOS) on the device (for example exceeding the abs max spec on VIN or VOUT) would cause the device to latch-off.
Does the device restart if you do power cycling?

Rakesh
