TPS2597: Cdvdt

Hi,

1) Is there an upper limit for the value of Cdvdt? The datasheet lists 3300pF, 5100pF, and >10nF.

2) 8.3.4.1 The Note in the Slew Rate (dVdt) and Inrush Current Control states that a series resistance of 100-Ω is recommended when Cdvdt>10nF. What is the purpose of using a 100-Ω series resistor?

    Hi Nishie,

    1) Dvdt cap is used to control the startup slew rate at output. It controls the voltage of gate of main FET and thus controls the output. You can use higher value of Cdvdt to make the output slew rate slow. What is your application requirement? 

    2) It is to limit the currents going to capacitor in case of any fault.
