Hi,

My question relates TPSM33615 DCDC module:

My application requires buck DCDC converter to 12VDC out from 24V automotive input which may vary between 18 to 32V but sometimes it may go downto 8V for short period of times.

Obviously, the buck converter can't produce 12V output from Vin<12V+Vdrop but in such case of too low Vin value the Vout to follow Vin-Vdrop (drop state) and not to enter into lockout state.

So what happens if programming the UVLO to value less than 8V, will the output reliable follow the input voltage when it is too low?

The device should function until the falling UVLO threshold is tripped.

So if i'll program the UVLO to very low value it will track the input voltage, right?

I have another question related to this module:

The Webbench design application shows that both SW pins (5 and 6) should be shorted.

However, in the data sheet it wasn't mentioned and in the "9.5.2 Layout Example" they are not connected.

Should or shouldn't they been connected?

I see on the package layout that pin 5 is a large one and pin 6 is a very small - is there any meaning for it?

Hi Eli,

They should not be connected, and be left floating.

The large pin 5 could be where the inductor is internally connected to VOUT, and the small pin 6 is where the internal bootstrap is connected.
