TPSM63602: IS THIS STEP-DOWN ONLY?

Part Number: TPSM63602

This part can output 1V to 16V with an input of 3V to 36V. However, it's called a Step-Down device.

Does this mean, for a 16V output, I must use an input voltage greater than 16V?

Or can I get a 16V output from 12V input?

If step-down (only), does T/I have an integrated DC-DC module (2A) that can deliver 16V from a 12V input?

Hi John,

Yes, for step-down devices, you will need to have an input voltage larger than the output voltage to get the regulated output.

For devices that can deliver output voltages higher than the input voltage, I recommend you look at boost controllers and converter seen here: https://www.ti.com/power-management/non-isolated-dc-dc-switching-regulators/step-up-boost/overview.html
