LM51521-Q1: Recommended gate resistor for IAUC60N04S6L039

Part Number: LM51521-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5152EVM-BST

Hello Expert,

Our customer is testing LM51521-Q1 on their board.
However, they are annoyed by EMI.
At this moment they don't added gate register so they consider to add gate resistor to improve EMI.

Then, could you provide recommended gate resistor and maximum gate resistor value for their used FET(IAUC60N04S6L039)?

Best regards,
Kazuki Kuramochi

  • Hi Kazuki,

Thanks for reaching out. It is in general advisable to add footprints for gate resistors in the PCB design that can offer increased flexibility, this was also done in the LM5152EVM-BST.
Within the datasheet of the IAUC60N04S6L039 I don't see a value for the internal gate resistor of the MOSFET, therefore we can't accurately take this into account.
Since there's no calculation for the gate resistor given in the data sheet, I would recommend you to take a look at the External Gate Resistor Design Guide for Gate Drivers.

Please reach out to us if you have any questions.

    Thank you and best regards,
    Bryan
