Typically it is not an issue to charge similar Li-Ion cells in parallel, since they both get full at 4.2V, the current tapers to zero and they do not get hot.
Sensing the temperature for both cells may be a challenge.
For Nickel cells, one should use cells from the same lot and capacity. One would not want one cell to get full and dissipate energy sooner that the other.
