I am designing a battery charger / pack using the BQ24133. The battery consists of two (2) 3.7V Li-Poly cells in series for a total pack voltage of 8.4V. The datasheet for the BQ24133 states that the minimum input voltage is 4.5V. My question is; Does the BQ24133 provide both buck and boost functions, i.e. the input voltage is less than the battery pack voltage? If so, I would need to use a 9.0V source voltage vs. the 5.0V that I had intended to use.
