BQ34Z100: BQ34Z100: BQSTUDIO error code 1721 Chem Programming Failed

Part Number: BQ34Z100
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO,

I am having the same error as I've seen in previous threads. I'm using the Evaluation Module which appears to have the bq34z100G1.

I haven't had any issues calibrating the gauge using the bq34z100g1 target.

I can't program the chemistry and I assume the reason is again that the device is showing up as 0100_0_06, which is not on the list of gauges.

I see that I am supposed to "upload the firmware to the device through the programming plugin within BQStudio" to solve this issue.

I am looking at the Firmware. I would think I would need this one, "bq34z100_v2_02_00_31.exe".

However, I look under programming and I see that I need a bqfs file to program.

Am I looking at the wrong thing? Can someone clarify. Is there a document to reference on how to do this?

Thank you in advance.

  • Hey Seth,

Today's a federal holiday so no one is in the office. We will get back to you tomorrow.

  • Hey Seth,

You will need to run the .exe file. It will download the necessary firmware files in the designated file directory. You can then program the srec file onto the  gauge. Lastly, you might need to copy and paste the bqz file into the "config" folder where BQStudio is downloaded.

  • I got it, case anyone runs into the same issue. The EVM User’s Guide has the chemistry program section before the chip programing section.

Make sure you do this in reverse. Download the firmware for the gauge you're using, run the exe in your TI folder and then run the srec file on the programming page once you have BQ Studio open.
