TPSM8D6C24: Question about Pin connection for Loop follower side

Guru 19595 points

I have a question regarding Table 6-5 on pages 33-34 of the data sheet.

Many pins are described as "Short to PGND (thermal pad)" in Loop Follower's Pin connection.

I think there is no problem with floating some pins such as Power Good, but is PGND connection required?

If there have any pins that are OK with floating, please let me know.

.

Best regards,

Satoshi

All pins listed as "Short to PGND" can be safely left floating without negatively affecting performance.

To provide clear guidance to customers, the datasheet recommends the lowest noise option which also increases device connectivity to GND for improved thermal performance, but the TPSM8D6C24 will work fine with those pins floating.

It is important that MSEL2 be programmed according to the stacked phase count and position.  If the MSEL2 programming lists MSEL2 = Short to GND, it must be connected to GND as Floating will select a different current limit setting than shorting the pin to ground.
