LM5109B: Environmental conditions

Part Number: LM5109B

For our product, we have to determine (verify) the maximum (min, max) permissible storage and operating conditions. I am therefore looking for the permissible storage and operating conditions of the individual components. In the corresponding component data sheets, the permissible temperatures are listed as usual, but no permissible humidity and/or pressure (altitude). My guess is that this is related to the package type. Can I find this data somewhere?

For clarification, I am interested in environmental conditions after population on a PCB.

The part mentioned here (LM5109BSD/NOPB) is just as an example ultimately I am looking for such info for a list of components.

Thanks for your help,

  • Hey Patrick,

Thank you for your question regarding the operating conditions of our products.

These parameters are not on the datasheet as specifications but are a part of the test processes. Under the Ordering & Quality section of the product page, there is a column on the far right for each orderable part that is "Quality, reliability & packaging information" which will contain the information regarding the testing performed and qualifications of the part such as the HAST (Highly Accelerated Stress Test) for relative humidity and MSL (Moisture Sensitivity Level) classifications.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Thank you,

    William Moore

  • Hi William,

    Thanks for your fast response.

I was able to find the data you pointed out thanks for that. Only it is not yet clear to me how to translate these values to values for real world. Can I calculate from this a maximum storage humidity or a maximum operating humidity?

    Kind regards,

    Patrick

  • Hey Patrick,

For each specific qualification, you will need to look at what conditions and testing is required to pass that test. This will give you what the part is rated at for these specific parameters. For example, the THB/HAST stress is tested to the JESD22-A110 specifications and tests at 130 °C at 85% Relative Humidity for 96 hours.

Beyond these test classifications that are outlined on that "Quality, reliability & packaging" page, we do not specify these parameters independently once they pass these industry standard tests.

Let me know if there are any further questions.

    Thank you,

    William Moore
