I want to design a BMS for a 3 (6 cells with 3 in series and two in parallel) cell Li-ion Battery with integrated USB PD charging.
I'm new to the Battery field, so I have some questions regarding the overall structure.
Here are my thoughts:
For the USB PD Physical layer I chose the TPS25750 in sink mode. It handles communication with the power source and provides up to 20V 5A.
It has an integrated I2C master controller for communication with eeprom and a charger IC.
As its recommended from TI I chose the BQ25731. It handles the charging, step up/step down voltages and has some protections features like overvoltage.
There is already an reference design like the TIDA-050047 which shows such a system, so far so good.
Now there are some features I like to have which are missing. Like over discharge protection, balancing, over current protection and so on.
For that I thought I could use the BQ76905, it has protection features as well as balancing capabilities.
Would that arrangement be realistic? Is there any reference design including all these features?
I worry that the BQ25731 could interfere with the BQ76905.
Since the BQ76905 needs active input through I2C for using the balancing feature, is there a way to let the TPS25750 handle this as well?
Since its communication with the BQ25731 too?
