MC33063A: 12V to -30V conversion using MC33063

Hi,

I just want to confirm if I can use MC33063 for the conversion, Vin = 12V, Vout = -30V, 600mA. If not can you suggest any better devices.

Hi Ranjini,

Thanks for using the e2e forum.
MC33063A has an abs max votlage at the switch note of 40V.
The voltage difference form 12V to -30V would exceed this limit, so MC33063A might not be a suitable part for this application.

Are there any limitations on the topology?
E.g. would an inverting flyback be a possible solution?

Hi Ranjini,

Thank you for reaching out, MC33063 should be able to do the 5V to -30V conversion as the max rating is around 40V, so MC33063 should be able to handle this.
