Hello,

We have a concern about creepage at UCC28730-Q1 device.

We have detected that in our design, we will have up to 510Vrms between HV pin and DRV pin.

We need to ensure that the creepage distance between these pins is enough for our design (1.94mm).

So, please:

1. Can you indicate the material group of the UCC28730-Q1? By this, according IEC60664-1, we will define properly our creepage required.

2. Do you have some lesson learned about this issue?

3. Can you indicate us some recommendations?

Thank you for the reaching out.

The HV pin of UCC28730 has been designed for 700V and it has been successfully used by customers with bus voltages as high as 1000V. Some of the designs are mentioned below:

Please, can you specify which is the material group of this driver?

→ We are following the IEC 60664-1:2020:

So, we consider, depending the material group, 2.5mmm, 3.6mm or 5mm of creepage.

TI will mark insulation specifications on datasheet if the part has isolation barrier within. UCC28730Q1 has no isolation barrier and therefore no CTI nor material group is indicated in the datasheet.
