TPSF12C1: Power Dissipation Calculation and Ta Max

Part Number: TPSF12C1

Hi team,

How can I calculate the power dissipation of this device?

Why is the maximum ambient temperature limited to 105℃?
If Tj is below 150℃, can it be used when Ta is above 105℃?

Best Regards,

  • Hi Kobata-san,

You can measure the current into VDD and calculate the IC power dissipation It will be ~12mA quiescent current plus an additional injection current component (typically a few mAs). Then multiply that by the thermal impedance RthJ-C given in the datasheet to estimate the temperature rise. Keep the junction temperature below 150°C. The ambient temp is more guidance in terms of the passive components, as Y-caps and chokes may not be rated that high.

    Regards,
