TPS25750: TPS25750 problems

Part Number: TPS25750

Hello,

I have got a couple of questions about the TPS25750 behavior:

1) I2Cm bus not working

At my setup it is not possible to access the I2Cm bus by the I2Cr and I2Cw commands.
The TPS25750 responds correctly to the I2Cr and I2Cw commands with a 00:00:00:00.
I send the correct data to the TPS25750, but the nothing happens at the I2Cm bus.

 - Is I2Cm bus access prohibited if the TPS25750 is in PATCH mode?

 - Is I2Cm bus access prohibited if the VIN_3V3 is not connected? (I only supply the TPS25750 by VBUS, the VIN_3V3 is not connected)

 - Is I2Cm bus access prohibited if the TPS25750 is in dead battery state?

2) DBfl command not working

If I send the DBfl command to the TPS25750, the dead battery flag in the boot status register is not cleared.

- Is this because I did not connect the VIN_3V3 pin?

- Are there limitations to the functionality of the TPS25750 when in dead battery state? Or is it fully operational?

I hope to hear from you soon!

Thanx in advance!

Best Regards, Peter.

  • Hi Peter,

Thanks for reaching out on E2E, give me a couple days to look into your questions and I'll get back to you at the end of the week.

    Thanks and Regards,

  • Hi Peter,

     - Is I2Cm bus access prohibited if the TPS25750 is in PATCH mode?

Yes, you need to be in APP mode

     - Is I2Cm bus access prohibited if the VIN_3V3 is not connected? (I only supply the TPS25750 by VBUS, the VIN_3V3 is not connected)

    No

     - Is I2Cm bus access prohibited if the TPS25750 is in dead battery state?

    No

    - Is this because I did not connect the VIN_3V3 pin?

No, you do not need VIN3V3 connected to successfully run the DBfg command.

    - Are there limitations to the functionality of the TPS25750 when in dead battery state? Or is it fully operational?

Yes, the device will not source more than a 5-V contract.

Similar to the I2C events, the DBFg command will not execute in PTCH mode, you need to be in APP mode. When testing on the EVM, I found no issues using DBFg when VIN3V3 was not connected and  the device was in APP mode.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Chris
