TPS54360B-Q1: Compensation Pole determination

Part Number: TPS54360B-Q1

Hi Team,

There are two compensation pole Cparallel equations mentioned in the datasheet of TPS54360B-Q1. We are selecting the higher of the two values as our Cparallel.

Why is that so? What is the technical reason behind selecting the larger of the two?

Kindly help with the understanding.

Thanks in advance.

Alen.

  • Hi Alen,

Thank you for posting.  It can be interpreted this way: C8 is to cancel out the Zero of Cout, and also to attenuate the switching noises.  To be effective, the pole should be at the lower frequency to have both effects, which means a larger C8.

    Hope this clarifies.

    Thanks,

    Youhao
