LP87644Q1EVM: Firmware Update on Windows

• Why are you trying to update ? was this not updated in EVM already?
• Have you tried unplug and re-plug and try again?

The EVM I have has not been updated already, hence it is detecting the FW is an older version and wants to update. The EVM I have I purchased from Mouser, so maybe it is an earlier version. I have tried un-plug and replug many times, but I still get the same result. Note: The communication is working fine using the PMIC SW to update NVM, so the cable and plug is all fine.

But you can skip the update and you can still work with older firmware. Have you tried doing that?

Yes, it works with the old firmware, I am using the old firmware for the moment. 

Are you saying there are no bug fixes or feature improvements in the new firmware? I would usually like to be using the latest firmware, especially as it pops up with a message to update every time I do something in the GUI.

No I am not saying that. Yes you are correct the latest firmware should be used but as I have already mentioned the device expert is out of office so you will get full support by Monday. Meanwhile you can work the older version. Thanks for your patience!

Have you been able to resolve this yet? What GUI version you're using?

I have seen this issue happening with other users long time ago but cannot find information how it was resolved. Meaning I'm not able to replicate issue on my own now.

Hi there,

I still get the issue. I use the gallery version, with chrome browser, I wasn't aware of a desktop version.

I plug in the board (LP87644Q1EVM): windows device manager immediately identifies two com ports:

I click the connect button in the bottom ribbon.

I get the following message as soon as I connect to the board.

If I click on update FW, the COM ports disappear from windows device manager, and I get a message:

Hi Alleyn,

Have you tried with another PC? We have sometimes seen very strange drivers conflict and solving those is out of our expertise. We cannot know what all could disturb out GUI operation.

Hi Alleyn,

Probably you do not have Uniflash installed on your PC. Try to install Uniflash (https://www.ti.com/tool/UNIFLASH?keyMatch=UNIFLASH) and then try to update the firmware and see if this solves the issue.
