REG710-5: Impact of shorting input and output of regulator

Part Number: REG710-5

Hey DC/DC Regulator team,

I have a customer working with the REG710 in a design and we have a question about whether the device can withstand a certain test condition. Please see below!

We are using the REG710 for a 3.3V to 5V boost in an application. During one particular test, it is necessary to bump the input voltage to 5V and apply the same 5V to the output of the REG710, effectively shorting the input and output of the REG710. This happens for just an instant, then reverting to 3.3V on the input.

Will this action cause damage to the REG710? Or should we remove voltage from the input, applying 5V to the REG710 output side only?

We appreciate any help on this matter!
