LMG1020: Operating frequency limitation

Hi,

What does the Up to 60 MHz Operation depend on?

What is the limiting factor for this operating parameter? And do you offer similar part that can operate higher than 100MHz?

Hi VR,

The maximum frequency of the LMG1020 is limited by the PCB layout, choice of FET to drive, and other components like gate resistors. The LMG1020 can theoretically achieve higher operating frequency, but we do not guarantee that it will perform within the characteristics defined in the datasheet.

Okay, so if I was to use this device as a xor-gate with a little more drive capability ( a couple mA) the electronics inside the device is not limited?

Hi VR,

I'm not familiar with using a gate driver as an XOR gate. Can you share more details a schematic? In general, as long as the absolute max specs are not violated, we can guarantee that the device will work as intended.

Hi,

It is in the datasheet to generate 1nS pulses using two separate pulses. That is the configuration I plan to use except I want to achive the short pulse repetition frequency of 100MHz.

I will try it out.

Hi VR,

If you are talking about the method used in section 8.2.2.2 on the datasheet, then yes that is possible. However, like before, using a frequency higher than 60MHz does not guarantee that the device will perform within the datasheet specs.
