TPS61378-Q1: TPS61378-Q1

Part Number: TPS61378-Q1

Hi Team,

We are currently using TPS61378-Q1 Booster IC in our design.

We are Validating TPS61378-Q1 for below Voltage and load condition,

Vin = 2.3 V to 4.1 V

Vout = 5.25 V

Max load current =1.5 A

  • Observation:

          Upon reaching Input current of 1.315 A and Input voltage of 2.8 V, we are observing a dip in Booster output (Attaching the waveforms for reference)

  • Please find the TPS61378 TI design document

       3704.TPS61378 Calculation Tool V1_Sup_Final.xlsx

  • Please find the attached Inductor Specification,

  • Query: From Design Sheet, max inductor peak current is 4.48 A and Maximum Current limit is 4.8A. 1.315 A is less than 4.48 A.What can be the reason for dip in Booster output voltage?

Kindly Support

  • Hi Srijesh,

    I think the possible reason is that the parasitic resistance between the Vin supply and the device VIN pin is big, such as 0.5Ω. So when the input current is 1.315 A and Vin is 2.8V, the actual voltage at the device VIN pin is lower than the UVLO, so the device shuts down and the Vout drops.

    To verify the above guess, please add a measurement of the voltage on VIN pin and provide the waveforms.

    Regards

    Lei
