BQ25750EVM: BQ25731 charging voltage

We don’t have a min charge voltage, we have a min system voltage register, which is for NVDC architecture, in order to keep system alive even if battery is low.

I want to set the charging voltage to 4.2V, but tool limit the valid values as '9.2 ~ 23'.

Looping in Conner from our USB-C/PD applications team.

Conner, we need to see if we can update the minimum charge voltage field in the TPS25750/TPS25751 GUI tool. It seems like a GUI limitation and not a BQ limitation. Can you help check this with systems team?

Hi Chanho,

This is a known issue with the TPS25750 GUI. In an upcoming release for the TPS25751, support with the BQ25731 will not have this issue. I will check and see if this fix will also be applied to the TPS25751. However, we are recommending that people switch to the TPS25751, as it is pin-to-pin compatible with the TPS25750 and has a lot of fixes implemented for compatibility with TI BQ devices that were present with the TPS25750.

Do you mean that if I replace the TPS25750 chip in the TPS25750 EVK with the TPS25751, I can set the BQ25731 charge voltage to 4.2V in the GUI?

Yes. However, instead of choosing TPS25750 on the first section of the GUI, you would choose the TPS25751. We are working right now to add the BQ25731 to the TPS25751 configuration section. You would use the USBPD Application Customization Tool instead of the TPS25750 Application Customization Tool.
