TIDA-010247: Purpose of R112 and R118

Part Number: TIDA-010247
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO1640

Hi,

Looking at the TIDA-010247 reference design I am struggling to understand the purpose or R112 and R118 that are connected to the top and bottom REG2 outputs respectively.

I found the following in the SLUAAN9 document:

"The TIDA-010247 also reserves external pack balancing functions through REG2 of both the top and bottom
BQ769x2. The host MCU can enable either BQ769x2 REG2 to start pack balancing, but needs to note the
maximum balancing current must follow the BQ769x2 regulator current limitations."

Which seems to imply that cell balancing is linked to REG2 in someway, but the regulators can only supply 45mA.

Can someone please explain what I'm missing?

Kind regards

Jason
