ISO5852S-EP: ISO5852S Desat pin Negative voltage

Part Number: ISO5852S-EP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO5852S

we are using a schottky diode (NRVBAF3200T3G) across desat pin to limit the negative voltage spikes. As per the ISO5852S datasheet this pin will withstand up to -0.3V. as per the selected diode datasheet Vf max is 0.6V, for this voltage desat pin will withstand. Please suggest.

  • Hello Naga,

Looks like the Schottky diode forward voltage value is based on forward current in the amps of amplitude; I believe in real operation, we would not get that much current through the Schottky diode, so the forward voltage drop would be smaller.

There's also an internal discharge path when the DESAT function is OFF, so that can help with controlling the DESAT negative spike as well.

Thus, I would recommend monitor the DESAT pin voltage during normal operation to make sure the voltage does not drop below the absolute minimum value. If so, we can then look for alternatives for the Schottky diode.

    Thank you,

    Vivian
