TPS3897: Reset Timeout

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS3899, TPS3760

Hello, For an MCU based design,TPS3897ADRYR is used to control the Hardware reset of the MCU, My intention is if the sense input is low for 10s or more the the reset out of the TPS3897ADRYR should be asserted.

  • Hi Sobin,

Unfortunately, the TPS3897A may not fit your application since the CT, programable delay, is applied to the rising edge of the Vsense for this device.

We do have the TPS3899, TPS3899DL01DSER, which has a programmable input sense delay and output de-assertion delay, but this device is limited to 6.2s for both delays.

Another option is going to be the TPS3760, TPS3760E012DYYR, this device, like the TPS3899, has a programmable timing, but the sense delay is limited to 1.28s and reset time delay of 12.8s. The timing limitation is addressed by using using the TPS3760E012DYYR, a overvoltage monitor active low device, and use it as a under voltage active high device. This way, the sense delay timing going to be 12.8s max and the reset delay is going to be 1.28s. This is illustrated the the timing diagrams below.
