TPS65217: TPS65217 locking up

Part Number: TPS65217

I designed a custom pcb using Beaglebone black designs and pmic's datasheets. I powered the pmic from the AC and USB pins, and when there is a fluctuation in input power or if the power goes off for 1-2 seconds, the pmic crashes, but if the power goes on and off for more than 10 seconds, it works normally without locking up. When I press the PB_IN button, pmic returns to normal. How can I get it back to normal without pressing the PB_IN button? How can I prevent Pmic crashing?

  • Hi Ertugrul,

The document below addresses solutions for brownout conditions.

Designing Robust TPS65217 Systems for VIN Brownout (solutions will depend on your battery configuration)

If you are seeing input fluctuations I would double check that your input source is not being overloaded which would cause the input voltage to drop.

There are a limited number of ways to cause a WAKEUP event for this PMIC shown below:

There can be issues if the AC or USB input falls to a low voltage but not low enough to reset the digital core of the device. If you are seeing fluctuations on the input where the voltage drops below UVLO, this should be addressed first to improve device performance.
