TLV717P: Problems with GND current vs temperature and Output Voltage vs Output current simulations

Part Number: TLV717P
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP8340

I have problems when I try to replicate the Ground Pin Current vs Temperature graph in the datasheet and the Output Voltage vs Output Current graph in PSPICE, because in both graphs the values remain constant, while in the datasheet graphs the values vary. Also, the values are incorrect. I'm using TLV71728.

  • Hi Walter,

The PSpice models do not accurately simulate the ground current.  We recommend using an evaluation module (EVM) for this measurement.

    Thanks,

    Stephen

  • Thank you so much,

    I have two more questions:

    1. When I try to replicate the Output Voltage vs Output Current graph in pspice, the hysteresis effect that appears in the datasheet graph is not generated. Is this due to the precision of Pspice?

    2. Is there a way to measure dropout voltage with pspice?

  • Hi Walter,

    1. I believe you are referring to the current foldback of the LDO.  The model does not entirely emulate the current foldback nature of the LDO but this is a protection circuit, not a circuit which you should operate in. As such it is not typically an issue for this circuit to be approximated in the pspice model.

    2. Yes, you would use a circuit similar to this one (for the LP8340 spice model)

    Thanks,

    Stephen
