TPS2595: minimum measurable load current on ILIM pin

Dear all

I'm designing a board that has to work at 3V, 150mA max and any current over 250mA is considered a shortcircuit

On the other hand, I have to monitor the current that the board draws. I thought in using the ILIM pin to monitor the

board's current, but, after reading the TPS259530DSG DS I've found that the ILIM resistor voltage is a bit imprecise.

I need to know what is the lowest attainable measured load current on ILIM pin, or if I have to change the efuse part for

a more proper one.

Hi Ignacio,

TPS2595 is not suitable for such low currents. A better fit for this application would be to use TPS2596 device. This will provide better current limit and current monitoring.

The chip is very good, but the problem is that SOIC package is too big for my application, what other part with a smaller package can you suggest me?

TPS25961, TPS1641 are other options which can help in low current applications.

Hello Arush:

I've read the datasheets, and the candidate part seems to be the TPS1641. The problem is that it's Iq is 1.2 mA typ which is too high for my application.

What other part can you suggest me that have a lower operating current?

In any case, do you have Iq-On data for the range Vin=Vcc 2.7-4.2V

Only 4.5V Iq-On v. temperature is plotted on fig 7-1

Hi Ignacio,

The device's Iq-on data is not characterized for 2.7V-4.2V condition, so it is not possible for me to provide you that data.
