TPS65982BB: how to config TPS65982BB by GUI and make it function

I use TPS65987DDJ+TPS65982BB for TBT3 device design,our circuit is follow intel reference design Tapex Creek TI88

and I build PD FW by GUI 6.3.6 with extend billboard binary(setting for billboard binary all default,no any change),then merge PD FW with TR FW

but TPS65982BB works abnormal,and cant see billboard device on host when connected our TBT3 device to host.

Does PD FW comprise billboard FW if I chose extend billboard binary to yes?then billboard can load FW from PD?or do you have any other suggestions for this issue?

Hi,

I modify PD FW configuration and then can recognize a enumeration failure device

I capture the I2C log between PD and BB,log looks OK,please also help check

How to make billboard device enumerate normally?

After debugging, we can currently recognize a YB billboard device，but we don't know why it YB

Hi,

Yellow band issue is likely due to driver issue as enumeration issue is caused by the USB hub.

Hi,

TI does not handle normal device usb enumeration on the Titan Ridge based designs, only billboard.

If you are seeing YB in the device manager, that is because there was a failed alternate mode entry causing the TPS65982BB to let the host the know.

You mean that its a normall behavior to see YB in the device manager if there was a failed alternate mode entry?

BTW,intel Titan Ridge reference board that use TPS65982BB(Tapex Creek TI88)will also seeing YB in the device manager in this case?

we try other TBT device(XG STATION PRO),will enumerate a normally USB device in device manger when unable to successfully negotiate into an alternate mode and OS will prompt that Thunderbolt device functions are limited,I think this phenomenon would be normal？
