TPS61170: Calculating the required Inductance value

Part Number: TPS61170

Hi,

Greetings.

Unable to find any description pertaining to calculating the required "Inductance value" in the device (TPS61170DRVR) datasheet.

Is there any other document, pertaining to this part, other than datasheet, which details about how to calculate the required "Inductance value".

Thanks,

Durgesh

  • Hi Durgesh,

Following is the commonly used formula to calculate the min inductance when working in continuous current mode.

Usually the max Ripple% is 40%.

The maximum inductance is limited by the loop stability consideration, or the ripple requirement in PFM in some devices. So a case by case check is needed.

The most effective way to have the correct inductance is refer to the datasheet recommendation, or just use the one in official EVM, which covers the major applications.

    Regards

    Lei
