TUSB546EVM: TUSB546EVM

Part Number: TUSB546EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB564

Hi all,

I have bought the TUSB546EVM and would like to test it. I have powered it up over the USB Type B (J4) and connected the Display Port (J3) to a monitor. The USB C (J2) was connected to a laptop over a USB C cable. Now I would like to replicate my laptop screen on the monitor. However, I could not get any image. Can you help me configure the EVM board? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks and best regards,

Abdul

  • Hi Abdul,

The TUSB546 is a source-side type-C interface. This means you can plug in a USB-C monitor to the Type-C port, and the EVM will carry video from the Display port (J3) to the monitor.

I believe what you're trying to do is use the 546 EVM in a sink-side application. This would take video from the type-C port (connected to your laptop) and put it out through the DisplayPort connector to a monitor. This is not possible with the TUSB546, because it is strictly a source side device.

What you need is the sink-side counterpart to the 546. This would be the TUSB564, which will output video through the DisplayPort connector and USB data through the USB-A connector.

    Best,

    Shane
