REF6041: Question about type of ceramic capacitor to use

Part Number: REF6041

Hi experts!

Our development team is having a discussion on the discrete components used with the subject part.

This all surrounds the specification of the bypass caps on the reference output. Some of the engineers are requesting that we use C0G caps (rather than X7R ceramics) in order to avoid piezoelectric effects.

The reference design that you have for this part uses an X7R cap. Are there any app notes or guidance on what we should use here? C0G caps in values greater than 1uF are pretty big and we’re hoping we don’t have to resort to that.

Thanks in advance for your support!

Best regards,

Jim B
